Solution: Replace the Control Panel



NOTE: To obtain a new Control Panel, contact support.

  1. Power OFF the printer using the power switch on the right side of the printer, near Paper Tray 2.

    CAUTION: Make sure to read the static precautions below before replacing the Control Panel. Failure to follow the precautions may result in damage to the Control Panel and / or circuit board(s).

    Static electricity precautions:

    • Touch the printer's bare metal frame often to discharge static electricity from your body.

    • Unplug the power cord from the rear of the printer.

  2. Use a coin to release the Control Panel from the Top Cover.
    1. Work the coin under the upper, left corner of the blue, plastic Control Panel.

    2. Turn the coin to the left until the Control Panel is released from the Front Cover Assembly.

  3. Turn the Control Panel over and place it on top of the printer.

  4. Disconnect the Black Plug from the defective Control Panel by gently pulling on the wiring harness that is closest to the plug.

  5. Connect the Black Plug to the new Control Panel.

    NOTE: The plug will only go into the Control Panel connector one way. Make sure to align the grooves on each side of the plug with the slots in the connector.

  6. Turn the Control Panel over and align it over the area where the old Control Panel existed.

  7. Push down on the Control Panel until it snaps into position.

  8. Plug in the printer's power cord.
  9. Power ON the printer.
